Forensic interviewing of children

Forensic interviewing of children requires expert knowledge and skills far beyond those of investigative interviewing of adults. This program has been developed and is delivered by Eleonora De Michele who has been working in the Welfare Services sector, specialising in child protection service delivery, for the past 40 years in both government and non-government organisations.

Her extensive experience includes working in frontline statutory Child Protection work as a Case Worker, supervisor, senior manager; oversighting Child Protection and Out of Home Care policy development and implementation and as a Senior Child Protection trainer.

For the past 24 years Eleonora has worked as an independent consultant, both nationally and internationally, providing high quality consultancy services to government and non-government organisations in all aspects of Child Protection service development, training delivery and evaluation. She continues to provide specialist clinical services including expert child protection and out-of-home care case reviews, assessments and opinion testimony in complex child abuse Court cases.

She is a skilled facilitator and trainer and a leading writer of curriculum covering all aspects of child protection service delivery. Some examples of the range of topics Eleonora has developed and delivered training in includes:
1. Interviewing children and young people in the context of allegations against employees
2. Collaborative, safety-oriented child protection practice
3. Responding to child abuse, neglect and domestic and family violence: good practice
4. Working with complexity: domestic and family violence, mental health and substance misuse
5. Supervision and leadership development
6. Worker self-care
Eleonora is also an accredited trainer of the Structured Decision Making® Assessment tools utilised in various jurisdictions.

Eleonora provides individual and group supervision and coaching to executive and senior managers, supervisors and field staff as she is passionate about supporting agencies deliver best quality services to the vulnerable communities they serve.
